Galatians 2:16 knowing that a man is not justified by the works of the law but by faith in Jesus Christ, even we have believed in Christ Jesus, that we might be justified by faith in Christ and not by the works of the law; for by the works of the law no flesh shall be justified.
Under the Old Testament, the only way to become righteous before God was to obey all His commandments. If you broke just one commandment you were considered unrighteous and you would come under God’s judgment. No one was considered righteous under the Old Testament because no one could keep the Law perfectly. All the people, before the cross, were considered the children of God’s wrath. Under the New Testament Jesus came to this earth to represent us to God and God to us. He lived a perfect life and completely obeyed all the Laws of Moses. He fulfilled the Law by obeying it perfectly. He was a perfect man which made Him a perfect sacrifice for our sins. He was an innocent man. On the cross, He traded places with us. He took our sin, our guilt, and our judgment for sin into His own body. He died on the cross for our sins. In exchange, He gave us His perfect righteousness, innocence, and abundant life. All who will believe the gospel God counts their faith as righteousness. Under the New Testament, we are considered the children of God’s mercy. It is impossible for you to earn your righteousness by your good works and obedience to God’s perfect laws. All who try fall short and fall under condemnation. All who will believe the gospel become righteousness because of their faith in Jesus finished work on the cross. 2 Corinthians 5:21 For He made Him who knew no sin to be sin for us, that we might become the righteousness of God in Him.
Romans 5:19 For as by one man's disobedience many were made sinners, so also by one Man's obedience many will be made righteous. The first Adam represented the human race. His disobedience to God caused sin to enter into the world and into the human race. Jesus was the last Adam, he also represents the human race. His obedience to go to the cross made everyone righteous before God. However, one must believe the gospel and accept Jesus into their heart for this righteousness to be imputed to them. Before the cross, the only way to be righteous before God was to obey the Law of Moses completely and perfectly. Because of the sin that ruled man’s heart, it was impossible for him to obey God’s perfect law of love. Therefore he broke God’s law, which left God with no choice but to judge him. All mankind were called the children of God’s wrath before Jesus came. Jesus who was the only righteous man before God traded place with sinful man on the cross. He took our sins and our judgment into His own body and in exchange gave us His perfect righteousness before God. He reconciled us to God. His blood washes us white as snow before God for our entire life. We are no longer unworthy sinners saved by grace but now we are the righteous sons of God. And if we are sons we are heirs, heirs of God and joint-heirs with Christ. God placed us in Christ and made us equal with Him. This is who you are as a Christian. If you are going to walk with God you must agree with Him. He made you righteous and holy in His sight. Therefore you must believe you are who God says you are. All who believe the gospel are now the children of God’s mercy. If you continue to see yourself as unworthy of God you are rejecting Jesus’ finished work on the cross and Satan is going to have you for lunch for your righteousness in Christ is your only defense against him. You have been saved from God's wrath.
What does that mean? Romans 5:9 Much more then, having now been justified by His blood, we shall be saved from wrath through Him. John 5:24 "Most assuredly, I say to you, he who hears My word and believes in Him who sent Me has everlasting life, and shall not come into judgment, but has passed from death into life. God’s wrath is His judgment for sin. Under the Old Testament, you were very blessed if you completely obeyed the laws of Moses. You were very cursed if you broke them. The blessings of the Law and the curses of the Law are recorded in Deuteronomy 28. The curse of the Law was God’s wrath or His judgment toward the one who broke His Law. Jesus came to this earth as the last Adam. He came to represent man to God. He fulfilled the Law of Moses by obeying it perfectly. He also fulfilled it by becoming our sacrificial Lamb. He took our place on the cross and bore our sins. All of God’s wrath and judgment for sin came into Jesus’ body and He bore our judgment. The entire Curse of the Law came into Jesus’ body. It broke His body. On the cross, God’s wrath and judgment for man’s sin were satisfied once and for all. Jesus redeemed us from the curse of the Law. He took our judgment and gave us His abundant life. The curse of the law (God’s wrath) has no legal right to be in the life of a Christian. However, if the devil can deceive you into permitting it he will certainly afflict you. As a Christian, you must put on the whole armor of God so that you can stand against the schemes of the devil. God’s redemptive truth will empower you to defeat Satan every single time he comes to your life. God’s truth in your heart and in your mouth is faith and it is by faith that we overcome in this world. What does that mean?
Romans 4:8 Blessed is the man to whom the Lord shall not impute sin." God will not impute your sins against you because He imputed all your sins, for your entire lifetime, to Jesus. God placed the sins of the whole world on Jesus. Jesus was our substitute. He was our sacrificial Lamb. He took our place, as a sinner, on the cross and gave us His place as a righteous son. Jesus made one sacrifice that, once and for all, has put our sins out of God’s sight. Jesus took His own blood, by the Spirit of Holiness, into the tabernacle in Heaven that God made and not man. He placed His blood on the Mercy Seat in heaven. Now between God’s eyes and man’s sin is the blood of Jesus. Jesus’ blood, which speaks better things than that of Abel, forever, testifies to God that our sins have been paid for in full. Jesus purchased our forgiveness. Jesus died as our Substitute, our sacrificial Lamb but He resurrected as our High Priest and Mediator. He now stands between us and the Father. He represents us to the Father and the Father to us. God never sees us, nor does He see our sins. He sees Jesus who is standing between us and Him. Therefore since we have a perfect High Priest we can boldly go to our Heavenly Father and make our request to Him. It would be illegal for God to count a Christian’s sin against him. If He did that would mean that Jesus died in vain. Therefore there is now no condemnation in Christ Jesus. All Christians would are under condemnation do not understand what took place on the cross. All Christians who believe they are unworthy of God do not understand their redemption in Christ and they have made the cross of no effect in their lives. What does that mean?
Ephesians 1:7 In Him we have redemption through His blood, the forgiveness of sins, according to the riches of His grace Adam sold out the human race to the devil. Sin entered man’s heart and Satan was given the dominion over man. When the Law of Moses came along, it strengthened Satan’s case against mankind. Satan used the Law of Moses to accuse man before God. God loved man so much He sent Jesus to this earth the pay the debt for man’s sin. Jesus was a perfect man. He was the only innocent man. He came to give His life for us. He traded His life for ours. He took our sin and gave us His righteousness. He purchased us from the curse of the law and Satan’s dominion. He paid the price for man’s sin and redeemed us back to God. All who will accept Jesus as Savior have been redeemed from sin, judgment, and Satan’s dominion. Now that we are free from sin, judgment, and the devil we must renew our minds to our redemption in Christ. God’s truth in our hearts is the only defense we have against Satan, who is still the god of this world. God’s redemptive truths empower us to an abundant life in the midst of a dark world. It empowers us to live as kings and priests unto our God on this earth. It empowers us to represent Jesus, as His ambassador, in all His power and glory. What does that mean?
Romans 5:9 Much more then, having now been justified by His blood, we shall be saved from wrath through Him. When Adam sinned in the Garden of Eden sin entered into the world and into the heart of every man. All of mankind is now born with sin in our hearts. This sin separates us from God. This sin nature in our heart will not allow us to obey God’s perfect laws of love. Therefore we break His laws and are under His judgment and His wrath. God loved us so much that He sent us a Savior. Someone to save us from this sin nature that rules our heart. Jesus came to this earth from heaven and became a man. He lived a perfect life. He never sinned. His blood was perfect. He came to this earth to trade places with you. He made an exchange with you when He died on the cross. God placed the sins of the whole world on Jesus and then all His judgment and wrath for man’s sin came into Jesus body. It broke His body. He bore your sins and the judgment for your sins. He died on that cross and was buried. Three days later He resurrected from the dead and ascended into heaven. He ascended with His own blood. He entered into the tabernacle in heaven and He placed His own blood on the Mercy Seat. His blood is the evidence that He died for your sins. He paid the debt for your sins in full. All who will believe this gospel are forgiven of their sins forever and made completely righteous before God. They receive a new spirit, a new heart and God’s own Spirit comes and makes His home in them. Our spirit is born again and perfect before God, however, our souls are in the process of being renewed therefore we still fall short and sin against God. When we do sin Jesus’ blood testifies before God that our sins have already been paid for therefore His blood justifies us. He will never condemn us nor will He ever judge us for our sins. We are forever justified before our God and can boldly approach Him as a young child approaches a father that loves and adores him. ![]() Jeremiah 17:9 "The heart is deceitful above all things, And desperately wicked; Who can know it? In the Garden of Eden God gave Adam a choice. He could allow God to show him what is good and what is evil and submit himself to God. He could walk with God in harmony and live by His wonderful laws of love. Or he could make himself god and decide for himself what was good and evil. Of course, Satan deceived him into choosing to make himself god. What Adam did not understand is he would serve someone. He would be influenced by either God or the devil. When he rejected God and sinned against him he came under the influence of the devil. By the time Noah came around every thought and intent of the heart of all the people on the whole earth was evil continually. Man is condemned and damned for he is born with a nature that exalts himself as god to choose good from evil for himself. At the cross, Jesus reconciled man back to God. Once again mankind has a choice. The same two trees are set before him. He can continue to eat from the tree of the knowledge of good and evil where he continues to make himself god and decide what he determines is good and evil. Or he can choose the Tree of life. The Cross is the Tree of Life. When you accept Jesus into your heart you are born again. You get to start your life over. You are reconciled to God and you gladly submit to what He says is good and evil. His laws of love become the wisdom you build your life on. You walk in harmony with your God submitting to His Lordship. God sets before each one of us this day life or death, blessing or cursing. You can continue to eat from the tree of the knowledge of good and evil and be cursed and experience death or you can choose to believe the gospel and accept Jesus into your heart and be blessed and experience life. I have come that they may have life, and that they may have it more abundantly. When God created this world it was good. Everything He made was good. However, in order to make mankind in His image, He had to give them a free will. It was God’s plan for man to walk with Him and to take dominion over this world. His design was for Adam to expand the Garden of Eden until it covered the whole world. However, in order for man to have a free will, he must have a right to choose his own way. God placed two trees in the Garden, the Tree of Life and the Tree of the Knowledge of Good and Evil. God told Adam do not eat from the Tree of Good and Evil. However, Satan was on this earth and he entered into the garden and deceived man to eat from the tree of the knowledge of good and evil. Satan deceived Adam to make his own way apart from God. What Adam did not understand, is he would serve someone. He could eat from the tree of life and willfully walk with God and serve him or he could separate himself from God and serve Satan. Mankind died to God and came alive to self. He took on the nature of his new owner Satan, a nature that exalts self. Satan rules this world through man’s sin nature. He is the one tempting man to hurt one another. He is the one putting thoughts of doubt, unbelief, suspension, etc. in the minds of mankind. He and his demon roam to and fro on this earth wreaking all kinds of havoc in the lives of mankind. The good news is Jesus defeated Satan on the cross and has redeemed mankind from his dominion. You can now be translated from Satan’s dominion into God’s dominion. You can now become born-again and receive a new spirit (nature) and a new heart. God’s Spirit will come and make His home inside of you. He will empower you to rule over Satan and his kingdom. He will protect you and teach you how to rule and reign over Satan in this world. God is good and He is love. He does not do the bad nor does he permit Satan to do anything. Man has a free will and he allows Satan to do all the evil and bad that is in the world. Satan controls this world through blinding people’s minds. Because of Adam’s sin in the Garden of Eden mankind is born with a sinful nature. This nature is selfish. It is void inside. Satan deceives man by tempting him to fulfill his lusts in an attempt to fill the void in his heart. This void is a longing to be loved, accepted, valued, and to have a purpose. People put demands on other people to make them happy and fill this void. Unfortunately, the people who have the demand on them to make you happy, are looking to you or someone else, or something else, to make them happy. Everyone will eventually disappoint you and fall short of your expectation. The result is offense, hurt, disappointment, anger, strife, oppression, etc. Satan is the one that keeps people looking to this world to find their happiness. All they find is disappointment and sorrow. The answer to life is the light of the gospel, the truth that God loves you. He demonstrated His great love for you by sending Jesus to die on the cross and pay the debt for your sin. Jesus reconciled you back to God. When you believe this gospel God gives you a new spirit and a new heart. His Holy Spirit comes inside of you and fills this void to be loved. As you get to know Him He reveals your identity in Christ, your purpose in Christ and a glorious inheritance He has for you in Christ. Without Jesus, you are condemned to a life of continual disappointment and frustration. No one can fill the void in your heart. No person can, no amount of money can, and no amount of power and influence can. You are damn to a life of disappointment. The good news is you can be reconciled to your God and His great love for you can fill your void. With Jesus living inside of you, life is awesome. The more you get to know Him the better life becomes. You can know Him by His Spirit that lives inside of you. He has a wonderful and great plan for your life. It is better than you could ever imagine. I know that I could never have imagined my life would have turned out so wonderful and I’m still just getting started. Just think about the potential of having God living inside of you. All things are now possible for you. He is amazing and He loves you and would never harm you and He never disappoints you. He is everything to me. Go to www.abundantlifefellowship.org and click on the “Pathway” to living an abundant life. Start with the series “What Now”.
