This is one of my favorite scriptures in the Bible. It is truly an amazing statement. Jesus said that he who believes in Him will do the same works that He did and eve greater. How could He say such a thing? Did Jesus know that the days of miracles are passed away? Didn’t He know that when the last apostle died the miracles would die with them? Maybe Jesus did not really mean what He said. What did He mean when He said because I go to My Father?
Jesus was saying when I go to My Father I am going to send you the Holy Spirit. It was only after the Holy Spirit came upon Jesus did He begin to perform miracles. It was the Holy Spirit that did the work. Jesus knew the same Holy Spirit that empowered Him would empower those who would believe in Him. On the day of Pentecost, the Holy Spirit came upon the one hundred and twenty believers in the upper room. Immediately they began to perform miracles and healings.
Jesus was the first new creature. He was the firstborn among many brethren. We are the end time new creatures in Christ. God always ends greater than He begins. The book of Acts reveals the works the Holy Spirit did through the early church. How much greater will He flow through the end time church?

​As a Christian, our citizenship is in heaven. Jesus is preparing a place for you in heaven. While we are here on this earth we have a job to do. We are His ambassadors representing Him to others. We are instructed to live a life that is pleasing to our Heavenly Father. We are instructed to live soberly, righteously, and godly in this world. We are the lights of the world and the salt of the earth. Our life is to show the world the love of God. When the world sees Jesus in us they will be drawn to God. Let us look to heaven and set our minds on heaven and our purpose on this earth be to advance His kingdom. We are not here to build our own kingdom. We are here to build God’s kingdom. We are here to be servants to all and demonstrate God’s great love. Our rewards in heaven are determined by what we do on this earth. If we live for ourselves our reward will be small. If we live for our God our reward will be great. When you live for self not only will you have a small reward in heaven but you will be miserable on this earth. However, if you live for God and put others first your reward will be great and you will be happy on this earth. Jesus is coming back for us. When He comes will He find you busy about His kingdom work or will He find you busy about your own work? I encourage you to set your mind on the things above and not on the things of this earth. There is much for you to do in our Father’s kingdom. So make up your mind that your life is all about Jesus and letting His love shine through you.

Jesus is the answer to life. He said He is the way, the truth, and the life. He is the door to God the Father. Knowing God is eternal life, He is everything that you are looking for. He alone gives you unconditional love. He alone gives you true worth and value. He created you with a unique design in mind. His calling and purpose for your life is the only thing that will satisfy your heart. All the wealth and fame in the world cannot make you happy. Jesus is the light of the world that points all mankind to His Heavenly Father. God’s word is the light in your heart, for the scripture says, your word is a lamp unto my feet and a light unto my path. God’s ways are the ways of life and health. His word in your heart instructs you how to walk in God’s paths. God’s word is life to those who find it and health to all their flesh. God’s word is your light. Put it in your heart and meditate on it every day. Confess it night and day. It is a sword in your hand to defeat your enemies and a shield to protect you from their attacks. God’s word (light) teaches you how to receive God’s great love for you. It teaches us how to love God and how to love one another. God is love and those who love know God. Let God’s word be the light unto your path today.

​Jesus said this to His disciples shortly before He was crucified. He was saying to them if you believe in God, believe also in Me. He was assuring them that He was going away to prepare a place for them. He also promised them that He would send them another Comforter that would abide with them forever. He was talking about His Holy Spirit who would come and live inside of them. His Holy Spirit would be with them, teach them, comfort them, and help them in this world and through this life. He said do not let your heart be troubled. The Holy Spirit knows everything. He is your personal guide through this life. The greatest thing you can do is become intimate with the Holy Spirit living inside of you. He is waiting to fellowship with you. He is waiting to teach you wonderful truths of God’s word as you diligently study the Bible and hear it over and over again. You have the all-knowing God, who is your constant companion, living inside of you. There is never a need to worry or fret about anything. Simply ask God for whatever you need and He will surely give it to you. But when you ask you must ask in faith with no doubting. You can also pray in the Spirit (in other tongues) and God’s perfect will for your life will be prayed by the Spirit. The scripture says to cast all you care on the Lord for He cares for you. Jesus said not to worry about tomorrow for He will be with you. A troubled heart is a heart this is not trusting in the Lord. A better way to say it is a troubled heart is a heart that is not standing on the promises of God, for God’s redemptive truth is the Rock on which we stand and the gates of hell cannot prevail against us.
Isaiah 26:3 You will keep him in perfect peace who mind stays on you because he trusts in You.

The milk of God’s word is the revelation of God’s great love for you. He extends His grace to you by loving you regardless of what you do. He extends His love to you by dying for you and preferring you above Himself. He extends His righteousness to you by being at peace with you and by giving you a new identity in Christ. You are now His child and His heir. He extends His holiness to you by making you clean and white as snow and by not judging you. He extends His justice to you by taking your place on the cross and forgiving you of all your sins.
The meat of God’s word is for the mature and it is the revelation of allowing God’s love to flow through you to the world. Now, you extend grace to others and love them regardless of what they do. Now, you extend love to others and prefer them above yourself. Now, you extend righteousness to others by being at peace with them and counting them as your brother/sister and fellow heirs with Christ. Now, you extend holiness to others by counting them as clean before God and by not judging them. Now, you extend justice to others by forgiving them just as Christ has forgiven you.
When we love others as Christ has loved us we will be the lights of the world and the salt of the earth. The world will then know we are Christ’s disciples by our love.

The great commandment of the Law is to love the Lord your God with all your heart, soul, mind, and strength, and to love your neighbor as yourself. Unfortunately, no one could obey the commandment because of our sin nature that is selfish and self-seeking.  Jesus gave us a new commandment to love one another as I have loved you. God demonstrated His great love for you by sending Jesus to be your substitute on the cross. He did this while you were a sinner. All who will accept Jesus into their hearts are given a new heart, a new spirit, and God’s Spirit comes and lives inside of them. Their sin nature dies with Christ and they resurrect with Him a new man. They become a new creation in Christ. God’s love fills the void in your heart to be loved, accepted, and to have a sense of worth and value. God’s love empowers you to love others. Without Jesus man’s heart has a void in it. There is no room for God or others. Man is consumed with finding his identity. He looks to a world of wealth, fame, and people to fill his void. However, nothing can fill the void for Satan is the god of this world and he hates you and will never let you find happiness. Jesus fills the void in your heart. You get your identity and sense of value and worth in Him. He opens your eyes to see love, to experience love and to give love. God’s love fills the void in your heart and His love empowers you to love others, fulfilling God’s commandment to love.

The whole world was judged at the cross. All of man’s sin, from Adam to the end of this age, came into Jesus’ body. He bore the sins of the whole world once and for all. Instead of God judging all the people in this world and killing them as He did when He flooded the earth, He placed all of man’s sin on Jesus and He judged Jesus for our sins. Jesus died in the flood of God’s judgment so that all who will accept Jesus into their hearts can get in the ark and float above the judgment of God. Noah’s ark is only a picture of Jesus and His redeeming work on the cross. We are now in Christ forever free from God’s judgment. It would be unjust for God to judge a Believer in Christ because Jesus has already paid the debt of our sin in full.
The ruler of this world is Satan, for he is the god of this world. He has been cast out of heaven. He can no longer accuse us before God. You cannot accuse the forgiven. You cannot judge the redeemed. You cannot condemn the pardoned. There is, therefore, now no condemnation to those who are in Christ Jesus who do not walk accord to the flesh (Old Testament) but according to the Spirit (New Testament). You walk according to the flesh by trying to obtain your righteousness by the law (your works). You walk according to the Spirit by receiving your righteousness as a free gift, freely given to you by God when you believe the gospel. If Satan cannot accuse you, judge you, or condemn you he cannot touch you. He is cast out and we overcome him by the word of God in our hearts and the blood of the Lamb that completely, once and for all, forgives us. And we do not love our life to the death (Revelation 12:10-11), we die with Christ and resurrect with Him a brand new man. You overcome the devil by your testimony that you are the forgiven. You are the redeemed. You are the righteousness of God in Christ Jesus. You forsake worldly lust and ungodliness and you put on Jesus. You walk in your new identity as a child of God created in true righteousness and holiness.

We serve Jesus by allowing Him to live His life through us. We allow love to rule our hearts and minds. Love will always prefer others above self and will always make himself a servant. Love will always make himself last. Jesus is God Almighty yet He humbled Himself and washed His disciple’s feet. When He was born He was born in a lowly stable. He lived as a carpenter’s son. He knew He was equal to God yet He humbled Himself to become obedient to death, even the death of the cross. How could Jesus be so humble? How could He make Himself last? How could He wash His disciple’s feet? He was empowered to love because He was secure in who He was and because He trusted His Heavenly Father. You will never be able to love like Jesus until you know and understand just how much you are loved. God demonstrated His great love for you by sending Jesus to the cross. He will not withhold anything from you but takes great pleasure in the prosperity of His people. He is a great Father who alone loves you with an unconditional love. His love gives you your identity, value, purpose, and comfort. His love empowers you to love. Jesus said when you serve others you serve Him. Every time you put someone ahead of yourself God records it. In just the right time He will remember what you did and He will honor you. Nothing you do for God is unnoticed or forgotten. Your reward will surely come. Let love rule your heart and your life and you will be blessed and honored beyond your wildest dreams. One day you will be in heaven with Jesus and you will receive a great entrance into your heavenly home.

God is not saying for us to hate our life. He is saying for us to hate the old sin nature that once ruled us. This sin nature looks to the world for its security, identity, comfort, and pleasure. This sin nature is self-centered and envious of others. This sin nature is always thinking about self. It never puts others first. If you love your old sin nature and yield to it you will lose your life. The wisdom that controls your mind will be deceived. You will justify your sin and blame others for your shortcomings. You lose your life by allowing Jesus to live through you. Jesus is Love. He always loves. He always prefers others above Himself. He is always a servant to others. We are transformed from our old sin nature to our new nature of love by allowing Jesus to live through us. This process of transformation is called sanctification. God’s word washes all the filth from our hearts and minds. His word is what transforms our thinking. When we allow God’s redemptive truth to rule our hearts we will find life and health. We will find life and life more abundantly. I encourage you to lose your life. Do not demand your own way. Make yourself a servant to all. If you will make yourself last God will make you first. If you will humble yourself God will exalt you. Love is the answer to life. Allow God to mold you into a vessel of love so that you can be useful to the Master, sanctified and prepared for every good work.

​Jesus was talking about Himself. He had to die so that we could become born again, new creatures in Christ. When God created this world He created the seed to reproduce themselves. In order for Jesus to reproduce Himself in us, He had to die. Thank God He was willing to die, so that, we can become born again. Our new born again spirit is created in true righteousness and holiness just like Jesus. Our responsibility is to renew our mind and heart to God’s word, so that, our soul and spirit will agree and we can represent Jesus effectively on this earth. Jesus is the living word of God. Our souls are transformed into the image of Jesus by hearing and seeing the truth of what took place on the cross. The more we hear it and see it, the more we believe it and do it. The more we obey the word of God the more we are transformed into His image. God is love and love fulfills God’s law. The more we see Jesus the more we see love. The more we see love the more we can love God and others. Once we are perfect in love there is no more fear, oppression, or terror. The greatest demonstration of love is to forgive. Jesus forgave the ones who lied about Him, mocked Him, spit in His face, punched Him, and crucified Him. He was empowered to love because He knew His Father loved Him. When we understand the great love our Father has for us we also will be empowered to love those who have hurt us. All those who have abused us, betrayed us, lied to us, violated us, etc. Love frees you from all the hurt and pain in your life. Forgiveness frees your heart from the pain. Meditate on the scriptures that tell you of God’s great love for you. Feed on those scriptures every day until you know how much you are loved and how valuable you are. Now let God’s amazing love flow through you into the world. Plant the word in your heart and it will reproduce itself in your life. The world will know you are a Christian by your love for God and for one another.
