Jesus defeated Satan on the cross and gave you the dominion over him.

Hebrews 2:14  Inasmuch then as the children have partaken of flesh and blood, He Himself likewise shared in the same, that through death He might destroy him who had the power of death, that is, the devil

​Luke 10:19 Behold, I give you the authority to trample on serpents and scorpions, and over all the power of the enemy, and nothing shall by any means hurt you.

Jesus defeated Satan on the cross and stripped him of his power against us. He did it by redeeming us and forever forgiving us. Satan greatest weapon against us is to accuse us of sin and then condemn us for sinning. Jesus stripped Satan of his power to accuse us and condemn us by forgiving us. You cannot condemn the forgiven. The Law of Moses empowered Satan to accuse us before God. Every time with broke one of God’s laws Satan who stand before God as an attorney and accuse us before God. Under the Old Testament, he had a legal right to accuse us and condemn us before God. The Law of Moses gave him that right. However, on the cross Jesus fulfilled the Law and paid the debt it required for sin by offering Himself as our substitute. Jesus’ innocent blood paid the debt the law required in full. Jesus wiped out the Old Testament Law of Moses and brought in a New Covenant. Under this New Covenant, our faith is counted as righteousness when we believe in Jesus. Our sins are no longer counted against us, therefore, Satan has no legal right to condemn us. Furthermore, Satan has forever lost his audience before God. He was cast out of heaven when Jesus died on the cross. He has no legal right to condemn us or afflict us. We have complete dominion over him. However, he is a thief and a murderer. He comes to our lives to kill, steal, and destroy. When he comes we are instructed the resist him steadfast in the faith and he will flee from us.
