DAY 01
God's Word is Alive
Hebrews 4:12 says that God’s word is alive and powerful. It is sharper than any two-edged sword, which means it is greater than any spoken word. God created this entire universe with words. He spoke it and the Holy Spirit created it. The Apostle Paul describes God as the One who calls things that be not as though they were. God created man in his likeness and image. Romans 10:8 says that the word of faith that we preach is in our hearts and in our mouths. Proverbs 18:21 says that life and death are in the power of our tongue. The Apostle John said that we overcome in this world with our faith. We overcome every trial that we face with God’s redemptive word in our hearts and then speaking that word out of our mouths. Isaiah 55:11 says that God’s spoken word will not return void but will accomplish what it is sent to do. Jesus said the words that I speak are spirit and they are life. Proverbs 4:22 says God’s word is life to those who find it and health to all their flesh. The Hebrew word for “health” is this scripture is “medicine”. The great thing about God’s medicine is that it has no side effects. It is health to ALL your flesh. In Ephesian 6:10-18 we are instructed to put on the whole armor of God, so that, we can stand against the devil when he comes against us. The first piece of armor is to gird your loins with truth, which means to put God’s word concerning your redemption in Christ in your heart. The Apostle Paul writes that faith comes by hearing and hearing by the word of Christ. Hearing Christ’s finished work at the cross will build your faith and fill your heart with amazing truth that will truly make you free. The last piece of armor is the sword of the Spirit, which is the word of God concerning your redemption in your mouth. Put God’s word in your heart and then speak God’s word with your mouth. This is faith and it is how you overcome the devil in this world. We as New Testament Believers in Christ Jesus are no longer under the Old Testament Law of Moses, which the Apostle Paul calls the ministry of death. We are under a New Covenant which is called the Spirit of Life in Christ Jesus. We are to gird our loins with the truths of the New Covenant. The corner stone of this New Covenant is the finished work at the cross. It is our redemption in Christ Jesus. This New Covenant is not based on your obedience to the commandments of God but on God’s amazing grace to justify the ungodly and save us from our sin nature that was passed down to us from Adam and to forgive us from all our sins. Jesus reconciled us to God by making an exchange with us on the cross. He bore our sins and gave us, as a free gift, his perfect righteousness. He became sin and we became righteous. He took our place as a sinner on the cross and gave us his place as a righteous son. We are instructed to renew our minds to our new identity in Christ Jesus.
Prayer
Father I ask you to open the eyes of my understanding so that I can clearly see what Jesus did for me on the cross. I ask you to teach me through your wonderful Holy Spirit the glorious truths concerning my redemption in Christ Jesus my Lord.
