DAY 08
Jesus redeems man at the cross
God loved you so much that he sent you his only Begotten Son to be your Savior. Adams’ disobedience in the Garden of Eden separated man from God. Because of one man’s disobedience sin entered into the world and all of mankind became sinners. It is man’s nature to sin. It is man’s nature to be selfish, self-righteous, self-centered, prideful and lustful. The wages of sin is death. God is a just God. He loves justice. All who sin against God must be judged and punished. God gave the Law of Moses to show man his righteous standard to be righteous and holy before him. The Law reveals right and wrong, it is the knowledge of good and evil. However man cannot and will not obey it because of the sin that is in them. Man’s nature deceives him and will not permit him to obey God’s commandments. God gave the Law of Moses to reveal to man he was a sinner and could not obtain righteousness and holiness in his own strength and works. God did this so that man would see his sin and look to God to save him. All throughout the Law (Old Testament) God foretold of a Savior who would come and save them. Before Adam ever sinned against God, God already had a plan to redeem man, for Jesus was crucified from the foundation of the world. God is a just God but he is also a God of love and mercy. His mercy triumphs over his judgment. In the Law, God demonstrated his great mercy by allowing man to have a substitute. An innocent animal could take the judgment for man’s sin against God. Man’s sin would be transferred to the animal. God would judge the animal for man’s sin. The animal would be killed. The blood of the animal would testify before God that the sin has been paid for by the death of the animal. At the cross God demonstrated his great love for man by sending his perfect Son as a sacrificial Lamb, as a substitute. God placed all of man’s sin on Jesus. Jesus bore the sins of the whole world. God then judged Jesus for man’s sin. All sickness, disease, pain and human suffering came on Jesus as punishment for our sins. Jesus bore our judgment for sin. Jesus made an exchange with man at the cross. He took our place as a sinner. He became sin. He gave us his place as a righteous son. We became righteous. He redeemed us from every lawless deed by bearing our sin on the cross. He redeemed us from all sickness, disease, pain and human suffering by bearing our judgment for sin on the cross. God demonstrated his great love for man by sending Jesus to become our substitute. God’s righteous justice was satisfied by condemning Jesus for our sins. Now God can justly forgive us and heal us, for Jesus paid the price for our sin in full. Now we can justly and boldly come to our Heavenly Father and be reconciled to him by the precious blood of the Lamb. I can ask my Father anything in Jesus’ name and he will hear me and grant me my request.
PrayerFather I thank you for loving me so much you sent me your Son Jesus to be my substitute. I thank you Jesus for bearing my sins and my judgment for sin and giving me your perfect righteousness. I thank you for redeeming me from every sin and all judgment for sin.
