DAY 19
Building your house on the Rock
Jesus asked his disciples, “Who do you say that I am”? Peter said, “You are the Christ the Son of God”. Jesus told Peter that God the Father revealed that to him and he will build his church on this rock and the gates of hell will not be able to prevail against them. In the Bible a rock is a truth. It is a revelation from God. The New Testament church is built on the truth or the revelation that Jesus is the Christ the Son of God. The Hebrew word “Jesus” means “Jehovah Saves”. The Hebrew word “Christ” means “The anointed One”. All who believe that Jesus is God and he is the anointed One who was to come and save us from our sins will be saved. Jesus came as our sacrificial Lamb, our substitute. He bore our sins on the cross and gave us his perfect righteousness. He bore our judgment for sin and gave us his abundant life. He forever redeemed us from sin and from its judgment. We are the redeemed of the Lord and have been forever reconciled to our God. The gates of hell (the authorities of hell) cannot prevail against those who believe this gospel. Satan’s condemnation and all his afflictions cannot prevail against the redeemed of the Lord. On the contrary the church has been given all power and authority over the devil and his demonic spirits to undo their evil works in this world. We, as believers, are the light in the world. We are his witnesses of his redemptive work on the cross. We have been endued with power from on high to demonstrate his resurrection by healing the sick, casting out devils, curing diseases and raising the dead. Jesus told a parable. He said those who hear his sayings and believe them are like a man who built his house upon a rock. The storms came and beat on his house but could not knock it down. The man who hears his sayings but does not believe them is like a man who built his house upon the sand. The storms of life came and beat on his house and it fell and great was its fall. We, as believers in Christ, have an adversary called the devil. Jesus said, “In this world you will have tribulations but be of good cheer I have overcome the world.” The devil comes against us to destroy our lives. He beats on our house with sickness, disease, pain, poverty etc. All those who believe the gospel of Jesus Christ prevail against him. Satan cannot knock them down. His afflictions do not prevail against them. Once the storm has passed they are still standing. However those who do not understand or believe the finished work at the cross do not stand when the storm comes. They fall and great is there fall. We are instructed to renew our minds to the revelation of Jesus’ finished work at the cross until it is established in our hearts. Jesus’ finished work is the Rock on which we build our lives. Our redemption is greater than Satan and will prevail against any and all trials he can come against us with. We are the victors in Christ Jesus our Lord.
PrayerFather I thank you for opening my eyes to see your salvation in Christ Jesus my Lord. I thank you for being my Rock on which I stand. I thank you for delivering me from every tribulation that comes my way. My trust is in you oh Lord and in you alone.

Confession
Jesus is my Rock on which I stand. No condemnation the devil has can prevail against my Rock. No curse of sickness or disease can stand against my Rock. I am the redeemed of the Lord. I will prevail against all demonic activity that comes against me. My God is for me who can be against me.
